Job Description
Our research requires substantial animal husbandry, genotyping, RNA expression analysis and immunohistochemistry. We design and produce new genetically-altered mice using CRISPR/Cas9, perform detailed analyses of tissue morphology, explore alterations in gene expression at the whole transcriptome level, and utilize state-of-the-art bioinformatics. When combined, these methodologies enable us to gain new knowledge about the mechanisms, loci and proteins that determine how tissues and organs are formed.
Key Functions and Expected Performances
Under minimal supervision, contribute to on-going research projects.
- Perform routine animal husbandry and genotyping.
- Perform tissue dissection, tissue fixation, sectioning and immunostaining.
- Perform real-time qPCR and analyze the data.
- Perform FACS of embryonic cells.
- Assist with figure preparation for presentation and publication.
- Collaborate with others on research projects.
Supervisory Relationships
- Train undergraduate students to perform procedures.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree (preferred) in biologically-related field is necessary.
Experience and Skills
- At least one year of related laboratory experience is required.
- Animal husbandry experience is required.
- Must be comfortable working with rodents.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work well with others.
